How to make the most of your parenting journey

We celebrated Mother’s Day on Sunday 10th of May in New Zealand. I thought – hey, why are we celebrating mothers in one measly day? Why not celebrate it for a whole month?

After all, being a mother is the hardest job we have and it’s time to prioritize our self-care and mental health. It has been extremely draining, depleting and exhausting for many mothers in the past months.

Given the COVID-19 global pandemic and subsequent restrictions we have been asked to be everything and do everything for everyone. Empowermum’s Mother’s Month is all about putting the focus back on you – because you matter. As part of Empowermum’s Mother’s Month, I am interviewing inspiring and interviewing women all about motherhood – the good, the bad and the ugly.

In this episode, I talk to Jacqlin Richards from “Your Parent Journey”. Jacqlin is a parent mentor and owner of “Your Parent Journey” where she helps parents become real parents – not a perfect one but a real one. Jacqlin is a solo parent to two boys. We talked about both of our parenting journey, and how emotionally unprepared we were.

We shared some helpful tips and strategies for parents-to-be to prepare for the catalysmic and life changing event of having children. Jacqlin is real and raw, and totally relatable in her own trials and tribulations of motherhood. I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I enjoyed talking to her!

I would love to hear your thoughts on what we discussed – please comment below. If you want to learn more how to thrive in motherhood please follow me on Facebook at EmpowerMumsNZ. You can find Jacqlin on Facebook @YourParentJourney and at ,www.yourparentjourney.com
